I have done this many a time and always get what I want at the price I want to pay.  How do I do it you ask.  Well I will tell you.

First decide how much you want to pay say for me it was a camera I wanted to pay no more then $100.

Second decide what is the minimum you can get and still be happy.  For me that was 6MP, more then 3X optical zoom, a good brand like Kodak, Panasonic, or Canon, and semi small.

Then just wait and pray it took me about two months of checking the ads in the newspaper and watching sites like Woot.com and Amazon.com and scouring the internet before I found the perfect camera.  In the end my waiting payed off big I got a 12MP, 5X optical zoom, Kodak camera that was nice and small.  For only 99 bucks.

I have used this method and gotten my PDA, Laptop, Camera, Lego Mindstorm, RC Plane, and Desktop Computer all for the at or under the price I wanted to pay.
